The Library StoryArt

Welcome to my blog!

I'm a writer, illustrator scientist, mom, and educator and over the years I've developed a wide variety of science and art activities for kids, and I started this blog so that I can share these activities with others. I also plan to share coloring pages and StoryArt.

What is StoryArt? It's a picture that tells a story. For my first post I'll provide  an example titled "The Library":

Young children  can "read" a wordless picture like this before they can read words, a satisfying experience that encourages them to want to read for real. If you'd like your child to "read" the above piece of StoryArt, ask him to look at the picture and think about what is happening now. What might have happened before, and what might happen next? (click to enlarge) This activity is suitable for children aged 3-7.
